DEVICE - TIME

Avior has an on-board clock that keeps the date and time.

When it is switched off with the AT#OFF command, the on-board clock is also switched off to completely zero consumption.

Parameter D05 defines how the clock is updated when the device is switched on. By default, the update is AUTOMATIC, but can be changed to MANUAL.

In MANUAL mode the on-board clock increases the time from the start-up moment, while the date remains undefined.

Time-based activities will be performed, but any activity that includes the evaluation of the date or day of the week will be ignored.

At any time it is possible to set the date (parameter D14) and the time (parameter D15). When this data is set, the device will automatically calculate the day of the week (parameter D16).

In AUTOMATIC mode the device tries to obtain the date and time referred to the current geographical position from the available sources.

If access to the PLMN is available and the operator supports the NITZ function, the clock will be updated using the cellular network information.

Alternatively, the device contacts a time server using the WiFi connection (if available), sending its geographical coordinates (if present at parameters G01 and G02). If the geographic coordinates are not available, the server will determine the geographical location based on the IP address of the device. In the worst case, the position rendered could be the center of gravity of the Nation.

If the WiFi connection is not available, the device will contact the server via PLMN sending its geographical coordinates (if present at parameters G01 and G02). If the geographic coordinates are not available, it will use the cellular network information to determine the location based on the cell.

The on-board clock will be updated automatically every Sunday at 03:05 taking into account the geographical position of the device, which in the meantime could have changed.

This may not be particularly relevant to date and time settings, but may instead be significant for the hours of SUNRISE and SUNSET (parameters D17 and D18).

Rules associated with time-related events are stored in

specific unit R folders

TECHNICAL NOTE

It will not be possible to set the clock automatically if the data for accessing WiFi and / or PLMN networks are not defined or no connection is available.

In this case the date and the day of the week will remain undefined while the time will be counted starting from the start-up. In any case, a new synchronization attempt will be made every day at 03:05.
