DATA LINK

Since the remote unit is operating within a cellular network where data traffic is billed per volume, the connection between the web account and the physical unit is managed in order to keep data traffic within reasonable limit.

Remote unit will open a data connection with the server - uploading information and fetching pending commands - when:

  • A LOCAL EVENT OCCURS
    - ACTIVE INPUT OR OUTPUT IS CHANGED
    - ANALOG OR COUNTER THRESHOLD

  • AN INCOMING CALL IS DETECTED
    FROM RECOGNIZED USERS OR UNKNOWN

  • AN EMAIL / PUSH MESSAGE MUST BE SENT
    - TO ALERT RECIPIENTS
    - AT SPECIFIED TIME INTERVAL SET WITH SCHEDULED OPERATION
    - AT SPECIFIC CONDITION SET WITH PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC

  • SPECIFIC WEBCMD COMMAND IS RECEIVED
    - FROM LOCAL COM PORT
    - WITHIN SMS / TWEET
    - AT SPECIFIED TIME INTERVAL SET WITH SCHEDULED OPERATION
    - AT SPECIFIC CONDITION SET WITH PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC

To prevent too frequent connections, It's possible to set the minimum time interval between consecutive connections in the range 1 to 1440 minutes ( 24 hours ). If one ore more events occur within this time the unit will postpone the connection.

Setting to 0 the unit will connect immediately on every local event.

Leave blank to disable connections when local events occurs.

It's possible to set the maximum time interval between consecutive connections in the range 1 to 168 hours ( 1 week ). The unit will open a connection if the specified time interval has been elapsed without connections.

Leave blank to disable time based connections.

Connection on event is typical for remote control / alarm application.

For telemetry application you just need to set time based connections.

PERMANENT LINK

Enabling permanent data connection - by means of TCPUSH command - the remote unit will try to keep the link to server, allowing real time operation.

The unit will send a couple of bytes periodically in order to keep the connection permanently open. Data traffic for such real time operation is less than 4k/day .

Of course any command, alert or configuration exchanged with remote unit will produce additional data traffic.

Communication protocol is very efficient thus data volume is reduced to minimum.

Synchronization between web account and remote unit cannot be considered in real time when permanent data connection is disabled
